Bio
If you can get John Landry to open up about himself, the award-winning recording artist downplays his music industry achievements. The Canadian singer-songwriter is just as proud of being a father of two, a veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and a newly certified Sailor.
After spending the first 15 years of the millennium touring the globe as a country music artist, Landry settled down to raise a family. Settling down, for him, meant taking to the skies as an elite RCAF Search & Rescue (SAR) Cormorant helicopter pilot, a lifelong dream he’s had since childhood. Recently, Landry acquired yet another esteemed credential: his (seafarer) pilot’s license, another childhood dream that he would someday sail the world’s oceans. But that’s for a later chapter. After travelling the world’s “Highways” as a recording artist and then flying the world’s “Airways” as a Pilot, sailing the world’s “Waterways” as a Sailor seems only fitting.
Listeners of Landry’s unmistakable voice and intelligent songwriting abilities have been asking for years if the artist will return to public life. Well, that day seems to have come. Landry recently retired from his flying career and is back to making the music he loves. Landry and the team have already started re-introducing listeners to his music. Initially, much of the material will be familiar to some listeners, but Landry will also be sharing new material from the upcoming album, impromptu live performances of some of his favourite classics, and previously unreleased songs that never found a home on his albums.
